” City Views” exhibit, “Blue Umbrella” selected

City Views is a juried group show at the President of the Borough of Manhattan office at 1 Centre Street in New York City. “Blue Umbrella”, my 24″ x 36″ acrylic on canvas was chosen for inclusion in this group show, which is an honor I truly appreciate. The exhibit runs from August 3, 2017 through August 31st.

It is truly a lovely show, the selected paintings demonstrate the very personal way 80 artists from a wide variety of backgrounds and points of view, experience our complex city.

I know it”s August, but try to get there—you will enjoy the show!

15 Egg Tempera paintings!

In May, I began to use an ancient medium that was completely new to me: Egg Tempera. The technique is very different from my usual acrylic paintings. On a palette, you combine pure powdered pigment with egg yolk and create your paint as you use it.

The paint is applied in overlapping veils of color and the color can be “pure” or by layering different colors, can mix optically. I will post some photos of my egg tempera paintings. I have complete 15 in June and July and I will post photos of some in the near future.

Many modern artists have used egg tempera including Marc Chagall and Andrew Wyeth.
